M61 Mod to fit Surefire and Malkoff
This is the Malkoff Devices P60 style Drop-in LED Conversion with solid brass heatsink construction. The output is approximately 325 measured out the front lumens. The current draw is only 650ma at 6 volts. The full output runtime is approximately 1.5 hours on two CR123 primary batteries with a nice long taper as voltage drops. It will easily illuminate objects at 350+ feet and will blind opponents within a 100 foot radius. The LED is a Cool White (6200K) Cree XP-G2.
This design utilizes a custom orange peel reflector designed by Don McLeish. The reflector offers a very nice balance between throw and spill. It is an outstanding room lighter and short to medium spotter. It was designed specifically for use in Malkoff MD2, Elzetta ZFL-M60, and SureFire 6P, 9P, 6Z, Z2, Z3, C2, C3, M2, G3, and G2 flashlights. It may or may not fit other models. It will not work in SureFire Forends. Please see our SureFire Forend specific models. The input voltage is 3.4 - 9 volts. Below 3.4 volts it will drop out of regulation and run direct drive. This dropin is protected against reverse polarity.
This Malkoff Upgrade is designed for rugged service from the ground up. It is fully potted to stand up to rough service and recoil. This item is covered by Our Lifetime Warranty.
Things to Know Before Purchase:
A Fitting Ring (available on previous webpage) is required if used with a shock-absorbing head (ie Surefire M2 Combat Light or Surefire M951 Weapon Light)
The M61 will work in the Surefire M951, but do to variations over the production lifetime (of the 951) there are a few caveats:
1. You may, or may not, need to stretch the tail spring on the M61.
2. You may, or may not, need to use the black fitting ring we sell.
3. If there is a black grommet in the throat of the light, it may need to be removed (snaps out) with needle nosed pliers.
If you need help with the installation, please feel free to give us a call.
The M61 will not work in SureFire Forends. Please see our SureFire Forend specific models.
A M61 Lens Kit, or suitable equivalent, is required for use in the MDX Head (MD2 Flashlight). To use the M61 in Elzetta Flashlights you will need the VME Lens Kit. These are available on the Malkoff Devices Flashlights Parts webpage.
This dropin was designed to operate at maximum output for extended times in metal lights. Operating the unit for more than 15 continuous minutes on high in plastic lights may damage the dropin. This is not an issue in metal lights or plastic lights with a metal head.
WARNING: This light is capable of causing eye damage at close range. Please use the light responsibly!!!
